GAT FOOD ESSENTIALS INITIATES "ARTforFOOD" AUCTION TO SUPPORT CARE IN ITS EFFORT TO FIGHT MALNUTRITION
GAT Food Essentials (GAT) is teaming up with CARE, one of the leading humanitarian organizations fighting global poverty, to organize ARTforFOOD, an auction benefiting a supplementary feeding and nutrition center in Kenya.
ARTforFOOD has been initiated by GAT, a recognized microencapsulation specialist active in the functional food and beverage industry, in an effort to “give-back” and help fight malnutrition. The auction is comprised of nine pieces of artwork that are available for purchase from December 04 to December 19 on a Web Site dedicated to charitable contributions (http://www.gat-foodessentials.com/ARTforFOOD). Funds generated through the auction will be matched by GAT and go towards CARE’s Africa Food Crisis campaign and its supplementary nutrition and feeding center in Kenya’s Garissa region.
“Working in the functional food and beverage industry, we believe that it is our social obligation to step back from our regular activities and use our network to help communities in need, especially in the context of malnutrition”, says Stefan Thueringer, Business Development and Marketing Manager at GAT. “The holiday season is an ideal time for reflection and for setting steps to support charitable programs. We hope that the food industry will show great interest in our auction and will actively participate.”
Ernst Vinzenz Sokop, Finance Manager at GAT, passionate artist and kind donor of the nine paintings available at the auction, adds: “Contributing my paintings to a good cause goes without saying for me. Even though I hope that my paintings will appeal to many people, the motivation to give should be the dominant factor to participate in this auction.”
The intention of the auction is to involve as many companies in the food and beverage industry as possible in charitable activities and to raise awareness of CARE’s supplementary nutrition and feeding center in Garissa. ARTforFOOD may be the beginning of a long-term partnership between GAT Food Essentials and CARE with GAT planning to organize similar campaigns in the future.
The auction, taking place from December 04 to December 19, 2006 (10am, GMT +1), is open to everyone and can be accessed at http://www.gat-foodessentials.com/ARTforFOOD.
